Women In Key Homeland Security Roles

Women have gained a stronger leadership presence in the nation’s homeland security ranks, and Rich Cooper, of the DefenseMediaNetwork blog, thought it’s time to document their roles. Indeed so.

“Going remarkably unacknowledged and unheralded, Cooper writes,  “is the fact that significant portions of America’s leadership in its burgeoning homeland security apparatus are led by women.”

Cooper lists 17 women in top homeland security jobs, starting with Janet Napolitano, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, DHS Deputy Secretary, Jane Holl Lute and Washington, D/C.  Police Chief Cathy Lanier. And he adds seven women senators and representatives who have key roles on security-related committees in the U.S. Senate and House.

Meet all these women security leaders in Cooper’s post. You may very well know of more women in  security management roles that he ought to know about. Contact him by email here.
