Phony IDs From China a Growing Problem

Increasingly, the Internet is becoming a security scene in itself. The U.S. House Appropriations Committee was recently told, for example, that there’s been an alarming rise in the variety of fake documents – driver’s licenses, Social Security numbers and other identity papers – available  on the Web from China.

“So much of our work as a criminal investigative agency is moving from the street to the Internet,” John Morton, director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

“We have seen an alarming rise in these documents that you can get over the Internet, Morton told a House Appropriations Committee panel.
