Developing a Security Mindset

This is from a blog on computer security, but it’s the mindset behind all effective security: outguess the bad guys. To do that, you’ve got to be continually attentive and alert, by asking yourself something like, “Wow, the Miracle Foo is neat, but I wonder if someone could subvert the security or privacy of the Miracle Foo by doing Blah?

Instead, how many of us in a marketing-saturated society simply exclaim, “Wow, the Miracle Foo is a cool product, I can’t wait to use it?”

Indeed, cultivating a security mindset by asking skeptical, doubting questions is a healthy technique for rising in your chosen field – if your field is effective protection, from the perimeter in or maybe, even, from the blue sky above.
