Terrorist Attacks Were at a Record High Worldwide in 2012
There was a record high number of terrorist attacks worldwide in 2012 – 8,500 involving nearly 15,500 deaths – according a report by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) obtained by CNN. And a new high is expected fort 2013.
Part of the 2012 increase may be due to better collection methods, START says, “but the dramatic rise is not just a matter of having better data.” Terrorist violence has been coursing through Africa, Asia and the Middle East, CNN notes.
