Relive the Normandy Invasion – 70 Years Ago Today

Here’s a great way to observe today’s 70th anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Normandy, the beginning of the end of World War II in Europe. Nova’s two-hour TV documentary, “D-Day’s Sunken Secrets,” can be viewed on Nova’s website and is a renewed tribute to the determination, vision and courage of so many allied personnel that fateful day and those that followed.

At one point, the video features a digital simulation of the Mulberry Harbors, “a pair of man-made harbors featuring floating roadways that were used to ferry some 2.5 million troops and half a million vehicles from the sea to shores of Normandy.” Two and a half million – off the sea and finally to Berlin. What a saga!
