Pa. Offers Toll-Free Emergency Preparedness Information Line

Pennsylvania has launched a toll-free emergency preparedness telephone line – 1-888-9-READYPA. By using the line, residents and businesses without ready access to preparedness centers can get information on preparing for emergencies. This is a good way to avoid overlooking details or materials that could prove helpful should an emergency occur – or just to get a sense of what’s involved in emergency readiness. Sort of an alternative to doing business, or living, as usual.

The phone line is complemented by a ReadyPA Web site,www.ReadyPa.org. Operators on the phone line are trained from the information on the Web site. ReadyPA is a concept of the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, whose director, Robert P. French, notes that callers can speak to someone knowledgeable if they have questions.

It’s good to know the state is on the line. Other states might take note.
