It’s certainly not in the holiday spirit, but security is a realistic business – so, In Homeland Security posts a “December Terror Threat Snapshot: Vigilance for the Holidays”.
“In the midst of the holiday season,” notes Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas), chairman of the U.S. House Homeland Security Committee, “we must remain even more vigilant as jihadists remain intent on spreading fear and terror during this time of year. We are solemnly reminded of the heinous attack at a Christmas market in Berlin only two years ago – and just this week, a radicalized gunman opened fire in Strasbourg at one of France’s oldest Christmarkets and at the seat of the European Parliament.”
The post continues, but the point is well made. Vigilance at any time of year, and especially at year’s end, is a security hallmark.
