Tune-In to Today’s Risk Realities

On his Security website, Bruce Schneier refers us to a spot-on, in-person talk on risk assessment by Andy Ellis, the chief security officer of Akamai.

From an earlier post of his own on assessing risk, Schneier notes all too appropriately that “The problem is our brains are intuitively suited to the sorts of risk management decisions endemic to living in small family groups in the East African highlands in 100,000 BC, and not to living in the New York City of 2008” – or 2019.

Yes, risk is a challenging subject, as Andy Ellis makes clear. (The title of Schneier’s 2008 essay is “The Difference between Feeling and Reality in Security.”)
