No Short Shrift for Workplace Security

SecurityInforWatch warns of the dangers to employers in not considering workplace security a truly prevailing responsibility.

“Most organizations in the United States do not have the luxury of employing a fulltime security professional to help them identify, manage and mitigate security risk. So, what typically happens?”

InfoWatch writer Frank Pisciotta, CSC, president of Busimess Protection Specialists, Inc., warns that “Security duties are handed to an employee in such functions as human resources, safety, facilities, IT or maintenance.” And internal security can get offhand handling from there. “This is problematic for a variety of reasons…”

Not having a formal, management-approved risk assessment in place is one of them. From that, problems can grow.
