Worldwide Disaster Database Posted

A worldwide database of natural and technological disasters is posted online by the World Health Organization. It lists disasters in four categories – natural, hydro-meterological, geological and technological – from 1900 through 2007, week-by-week.

The database is intended as “an objective base for vulnerability assessment and priority setting.” It can be searched for country profiles, or disaster profiles by type (drought, wild fires, extreme temperatures, industrial accidents, etc.). A great resource for emergency planners.
