We’re getting caught up with DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano’s assessment of the terrorist threat inside the U.S., and thought you might want to as well. That’s because, in some respects, Ms. Napolitano considers the homeland threat “at its most heightened state” since the 9/11 attacks nearly a decade ago.
Foreign militant groups, the DHS secretary told the House Homeland Security Committee, are increasingly recruiting individuals from the U.S.
“As I have said before,” she testified, “we cannot guarantee that there will never be another terrorist attack, and we cannot seal our country under a glass dome.”
We’ve noted the homegrown terror threat before, but Secretary Napolitano seems to be giving it heightened emphasis. Not a happy situation, certainly. But be watchful.
