Alertness Increases as Sept. 11th Anniversary Approaches

This item is meant as a reminder that Sept. 11, 2011 isn’t that far off, as much as for its warning of a possible threat to U.S. utilities from “insider” employees sympathetic to Al Qaeda. It includes word that, in the materials captured by U.S. Navy Seals, Osama bin Laden was envisioning a massive U.S. attack around Sept. 11 to mark the 10th anniversary of the first one.

The Department of Homeland Security has issued an intelligence report, “Insider Threat to Utilities,” that warns of possible actions by Al Qaeda-sympathizing employees at U.S. power plants. The whole national landscape, however, rates special attentiveness as this next Sept. 11 approaches.
