Landscapers Welcome PRO Barrier

PRO Barrier’s Arrestor vehicle access control barrier drew considerable interest at the annual meeting of the Pennsylvania and Delaware Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects in Pittsburgh April 6-8.

No one could recall a barrier company exhibiting at the meeting before. But, increasingly, landscapers are being asked to be mindful of security concerns.

“More and more landscape architects are being asked to consider security,” said one Maryland architect. “The biggest concept is context-centered design.”

The Arrestor’s aesthetic features – its ability to be finished so that it will blend with a building’s surface, and to be completely out-of-sight when down – drew appreciative comments.

“That’s cool,” several landscapers exclaimed when the barrier’s aesthetic compatibility was pointed out.

The barrier was presented at the show by Dennis Owen, PRO Barrier’s vice president, and Doug Bedell, its communication director, at a booth entitled “Barriers that Blend”.

The ASLA meeting included a program on perimeter security, featuring high-stopping power (K12) fencing. A combination of ultra-strong fencing and the Arrestor at entry points can provide a complete solution to perimeter security.
