Passwords Matter; Use Them as Though That’s True. It Is.

Okay, passwords are a pain, granted. But here, from the prize-winning Naked Security blog, is an astounding bit of information on passwords: “55 percent of net users use the same password for most, if not all, websites…” At the same time, we’re seeing headlines of cybersecurity games being played at the expense of the U.S. government on down. The Web, friends, is today’s Wild West. It’s of enormous value, but also poses enormous risk if you don’t surf it in an intelligently secure manner.

What we’re saying is, take passwords seriously. Maintain a list of them in you favorite passwords software. Be as easy on yourselves as you can about passwords. But take them seriously. Create a new one for each site you want to save that requires one. Be secure in you recurring access to the sites you value and save, and expect to enter safely. Security = intelligent use of passwords.
