‘Hockey Saves’ Gains Fans Serving Ft. Benning Soldiers

This post has nothing directly to do with site security, but we want to acknowledge and applaud the sensitivity behind Hockey Saves, a movement that is providing free ice time and equipment to soldiers at Fort Benning, Ga. Providing soldiers in training with an outlet for anxieties is an outstanding recognition of their service.

“There’s no rank, there’s no job” says Army Reservist Seth Bierman in a DefenseMediaNetwork report on the Hockey Saves program, which operates on weekends at an ice rink near Fort Benning. “You’re either a forward or defenseman.” Support for Hockey Saves has been building from people both in and outside the sport. It’s a marvelous example of the sometimes happenstance way we acknowledge what people in the military are doing, and sacrificing, on our behalf.
