‘Erasures’ from Google Maps

Here’s an interesting list of 51 places and things you cannot see on Google Maps, passed along by Bruce Schneier from the Curious? Read blog. Under the “Political Pushback” heading are the measures it took, in some instances, to be smudged from Google’s mapscapes. Google’s effort to become the repository of “all the world’s information” has interesting tensions, Google Maps being one of them. Security isn’t Google’s business, though it seems willing to listen if pressured skillfully enough.
