FEMA’s New Private Sector Preparedness Site
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has a new website aimed at encouraging disaster preparedness in private businesses – FEMA’s “private sector site,” it’s being called. It’s got buttons for FEMA’s four readiness principles Plan/Prepare, Respond, Recover and Mitigate.
According to the Institute for Business and Home Safety, one-quarter of businesses do not recover from a major disaster. Very possibly, the impact of a disaster would not be as great if its possibility was anticipated – and mitigated – beforehand.
Mitigation is FEMA’s business, when it’s not responding to disasters. This new site is worth getting acquainted with. It’s in preparedness partnership with FEMA’s Ready Business section on ready.gov.
Pick where you want to plunge in, but do plunge. Preparedness is worth it.
